AD1 PROTECTION: Negligible

The probability of presence in water is negligible.

Location in which the walls do not generally show traces of water, but can appear in small periods, for example, in the form of steam and which dries quickly thanks to good ventilation.

AD5 PROTECTION: Jets

Possibility of water jets in any direction

Locations where hose water is regularly used such as car washes and patios.

AD2 PROTECTION: Drops

Possibility of vertical drops of water falling

Location in which water vapour occasionally condenses as water drops or when steam may occasionally be present.

Wiring Regs Location reference: IPX1 or IPX2

AD6 PROTECTION: Waves

Possibility of water waves

Seashore locations such as piers, beaches and quays.

AD3 PROTECTION: Spray

Possibility of water droplets falling at an angle of more than 60º to the vertical.

Location in which sprayed water appears as a continuous film on the walls and/or floors.

AD7 PROTECTION: Immersion

Possibility of intermittent, partial or total flooding by water.

Locations susceptible to flooding and/or equipment is immersed. The water can reach up to 150mm above the highest point of the equipment, with the lowest part not more than one metre below the surface of the water.

Possibility of splashes from any direction

Location where the equipment may be subject to splashed water; applies to certain luminaires and construction site equipment.

Locations such as swimming pools where the electrical equipment is permanently totally covered with water.
